How Direct Book Travel Works

Everything you need to know about Australia’s innovative B2B travel marketplace connecting hotels directly with travel agents across APAC.

What is Direct Book Travel?

Direct Book Travel is a B2B travel disintermediation marketplace connecting hotels directly with ATAS-accredited travel agents across APAC. We eliminate costly intermediaries, allowing hotels to keep more profit while giving travel agents access to real-time rates and live inventory.

How is Direct Book Travel different from Booking.com or other OTAs?

Unlike OTAs such as Booking.com that sell directly to consumers and charge hotels high wholesale margins, Direct Book Travel connects travel agents directly to hotels. This eliminates the additional wholesale margin that traditional distribution channels charge, putting more profit back in hotels’ pockets.

What regions does Direct Book Travel cover?

We focus exclusively on APAC markets including Australia, Thailand, Bali (Indonesia), Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and New Zealand. Our platform is designed specifically for Australian travel agents booking APAC destinations.

How do hotels connect to the platform?

Hotels sign a contract, connect their channel manager via our TravelGateX integration (supporting Siteminder, Staah, Synxis, and others), and go live within 24 hours with real-time rates and availability. Hotels with static rates can use our supplier extranet to manage pricing and availability.

What are the costs for hotels and travel agents?

Hotels pay only a 3% marketing fee, or can offer a lower rate with a 3% markup to cover costs. Travel agents pay no platform fees whatsoever. This transparent pricing model ensures both parties benefit from direct connections.

How does payment and settlement work?

Funds are collected from travel agents at booking, converted to the supplier’s currency, and settled via virtual credit card (VCC) or EFT. All booking and payment disputes are managed by our Australian-based support team to ensure hotels are paid.

What security and compliance measures are in place?

Our platform is PCI DSS and GDPR compliant. Access is limited to registered users with two-factor authentication. We collect only passenger names for bookings, and our payment provider scans for fraudulent cards using 3DS where possible.

Who can become a travel agent on the platform?

Travel agents must be registered with ATIA in Australia and ATAS accredited. They need a company name, professional email address, and must provide directors’ details for KYC compliance. This ensures only qualified, legitimate travel professionals access the platform.
